Knitting funk continues

I'm a great big bowl of bland lately.  I've got more pending projects than ever, but nothing at all is really inspiring me to work on anything.

I need to get my ass in gear. More ways than one.

But alas, the field in which my fucks are grown is barren.

Knitting everything twice

I decided to work on the tanktop since it's summer and that's summer clothes.  Well, as I was knitting away, I started to get weirded out that it was too big.  So I measured.  Like 4 inches around too big.

I ripped it all out.  Now there is something else that's making me unhappy and I am ignoring it but I might end up ripping that out, too.  BUT I think I know what I want to do to improve it, so I'm going to continue to ignore it unless it starts to really bug me.

I WILL IGNORE IT.  I might need you to remind me to do so.   Because I always knit every finished object at least twice.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder or something

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm still not knitting.  I had 3 days in a hotel in Indianapolis and instead of knitting, I spent most of my non-work waking hours drinking.  Didn't even knit a stitch.

My coffee game has been pretty weak.

I'm close to buying a couch anyways.

Weekend wrapup

In celebration of my upcoming birthday, during which I turn old as hell, I went to dinner at BFF Carla's house with BFF Sara.

We had a lovely evening.  Lots of laughter, lots of great food, a couple of beers.  Carla made Rhubarb custard bars.  These were delicious enough that I could probably go ahead and die happy now.  Seriously.  I can't be trusted with a pan of those things EVER.

Sara gave me a lovely birthday gift.  A yarn that combines 2 of my favorite things.  Yarn and Gilmore Girls.  Oy With The Poodles Already.

My knitting mojo has been a bit absent, but damned if i didn't wind and cast on socks right away.  I should have some project photos of this upcoming.

I didn't get into the second color of accidental hat but I DID get the white yarn spun and plied.  The yarn is NOT THAT GREAT actually. But I'm getting better.

Saturday So Far

I don't really sleep.  I try.   I take sleeping pills and eventually shut down, but on a normal day, I'm only good for about 5 hours.

Last night, I got about 4 hours of sleep but got up, made myself a french press and went to Oregon to have a really lovely walk with my bestie, Sara.  Something about an hour with Sara just screws my head on straight.

After the walk, we swung into The Firefly for a lovely cappuccino and an italian soda.

We've got soccer today, so a sock will come with me.

I'm still blah about knitting. WHAT THE HELL?

This week in my world

This week has been pretty low-key.  I normally work from home, but headed into our office for a farewell lunch with my pals there.  I stopped at Starbucks on the way in and picked up a flat white.  It was ok, but not as good as True's flat white.

I've been working on accidental hat v. 2.0.  I've really got to focus on learning how to Fair Isle, because the knitting looks a little jacked.

I think I would break my knitting rut quicker if I did something that made me look like a secret knitting genius or something.

Goals for the weekend
1) spin all the white wool
2) Navajo ply the white wool
3) get into the second color of the accidental hat.

Madison, Wisconsin

I love this town.  The past 48 hours have exemplified everything I love about Madison.  Friday night, Husband and I went out for dinner at Monty's Blue Plate.  Monty's is a great choice for vegetarians and vegans, but still offering solid diner foods.  I had the Sheldon, a vegetarian Reuben.  It was delicious and we had great conversation.  We were not even slightly rushed, but the food was a bit delayed, so they comped Husband's meal.  Totally unnecessary, but definitely indicative of their commitment to customer service.

After dinner, we headed down to State Street to split a pitcher of Spotted Cow at the Union Terrace.  It was a beautiful evening, the crowd was great and the views were spectacular, as always.  The crowd was light which meant we had no trouble getting a table.  We were down there for a few hours, continuing our great conversation and the view, and the weather.

Once we finished our pitcher, we went for a stroll up and down State Street.  State Street/downtown is my favorite part of Madison.  There's generally street performers,  eclectic stores, tons of people. There's amazing people watching.

We headed home and got up early to go enjoy the farmers' market.  The Dane County Farmers' Market is fantastic.  Tons of vendors, tons of people,  more street performers and fantastic shopping.  In the summer, I love to go to the market, pick up something amazing and base a meal around it.  It's hard to go wrong. Anyone heading to our Farmers' Market would do well to pick up a loaf of Spicy Hot Cheese Bread.  There's only one way to proceed with this.  You tear off pieces of it and eat it as you walk around, shopping.

We walked down State with our bread and headed to Collectivo to pick up one of the finest lattes downtown.

After the farmers' market,  I headed to Oregon for a fantastic Italian Soda and a walk with my bestie.  Any time the universe seems wrong, touching base with Sara will surely screw my head on straight.  We had a lovely walk, a fantastic talk and I headed home to rest up for BratFest and Everclear.  I had a Field Roast sausage and an ear of corn before we headed to the mainstage to watch Everclear.  I'm not a huge fan of Everclear, but I did enjoy seeing them play.  They started with my favorite three songs, so I was pretty much set to leave once that was over. The kid was not impressed.

Now, this morning, I'm relaxing, enjoying coffee and thinking of starting my day.  I've been knitting this morning, starting accidental hat v. 2.0.  I'm still struggling with my knitting mojo, but a hat I have to pay attention to might be just the ticket.  Once I have some extra colors on the hat, I will post some progress pictures.

You guys

I finished big scary designation #1.  I'm so happy to be done.  Now I'm knitting a brioche cowl that I just effed up. Tink tink tin...
